Leaders tell you that to make you feel angry or out of control, and to make you think you need to be OK with how little they give for your taxes, but the bottom line is taxes are an end state of government spending not beginning. The reason they never have enough for the people and always enough for war is because any country with a sovereign currency spends money INTO existence.

Modern Monetary Theorists even say there’s only one reason to tax anyone, and it’s to restrict their freedom. The average person doesn't need this and neither does the government in order to function.
