Yes and no. Both men and women despite being visual creatures have dated and or fallen for people who they would not normally choose. That tells us that there is a lot of room.
Science also tells us that in terms of longer-term relationships, a big age difference is generally not a good thing. Exceptions to every rule but generally so. Further a common lamentation with older men is making a bad decision by choosing the one who is better looking, and finding themselves having made the wrong decision when choosing between two women and then discovering they can't go back. One of my friends is a psychologist who focuses on older men and it is a frequent thing. They thought that having somebody nicer to look at would make them feel that extra hit of endorphins or whatever, but the endorphins wore off and they're deciding factor should have been the personableness and Care from the other one.
