I'm not sure I trust the stats re women being older, in part because most surveys only cover married women, but many women don't remarry at all, usually because of their divorce contracts or becaue they feel that by not marrying, the younger man is more likely to work towards maintaining the commitment and there is no funny business with property or business ownership. I have known of probably 8 or 9 such relationships and only one of them broke up during the time I knew them. 8-15 years difference, only 3 marriages from them.
