I would argue it comes from a historical perspective. You're talking about an effect of it, but it's also that from the early immigrations by Whites from all over Europe into the US, assimilation meant learning our English and giving up a portion or even all of their culture and becoming American or being called a greenhorn or an outsider. When we welcome other cultures into the "melting pot" we kind of take things that aren't ours. The use of the word "Bruh" by some is an example. One I see a lot of young people use but I find uncomfortable.
