I see a lot of it as a loss of ability to earn status and a properly paid day’s (weeks, months, year’s) work means they can't build much. It's super hard to develop oneself and be fulfilled if those things are gone.

Terrorists in any country have this in common. They are recuited among those who have difficulty building that basic dignity because of the broken system around them. So they take it out on everyone else.
