I don't need to read the article because my family lived it. But I knew and bothered to learn about the people my family pretended to be. we had to and still have to because they are still the majority. Many Jews took her choice to take our common name as a an expression of solidarity and allyship. She's disappointed us in that regard.
The story is her MOTHER told her to do this for that purpose and she took her mother's advice. Whoopi was meant to simply point to herself as a comedienne.
